Logistics of Materials Gives Us More Time to Learn

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year, each group of kids comes with its own personality. This year is no different. Most of the students are so excited to try anything and eager to help those who might be a bit apprehensive. Because everyone is willing to share the fun with each other, I often hear them being encouraging and making sure we didn't leave anyone out. They have created a truly accepting atmosphere for learning and growing.
These kids love coming to school and learning every day.
Their smiles are infectious, and their energy is inspiring.
Because of the cohesive environment they have created, our class routines run pretty smooth most of the time. There are a few problems that cause things to slow down, but logistics are the culprit. However, we are getting pretty good at following procedures and routines in order to get the classroom set up for each activity during the day. Every student gets the opportunity to have a job at some point during the year. These jobs are created for one or two students to do efficiently. They always fulfill their duties with great zeal.
My Project
Logistics, logistics, logistics! Planning out the layout and routines for our classroom to run efficiently has its challenges. Sometimes we work altogether as one team, sometimes we work in small groups and sometimes individually. That means some materials are spread strategically throughout the room for our independent work to keep things running smoothly. However, some things that have our names on them such as homework folders, writing journals, and work in progress folders we need passed out all at once and or at different times.
Then there is the matter of our coats and backpacks.
Everything overlaps and some things end up on the floor. We would really like to grab our jackets and go to recess quickly and return without a mob tromping all over each other because 5- and 6-year-olds have no sense of space or patience because it's time to get back to learning.
Logistics is so important in a busy classroom of 26 energized and ready-to-learn Kindergartners. Yes, I have always managed the dissemination of all these materials, but wouldn't it be great for everyone to go to their table and have what they need all at once with no waiting? More time would be spent on the task of learning!
Luckily, there is this product called a Seat Sack storage. It slides on the chair back and is wide enough to store the materials for one student conveniently at the table. How handy is that? If we also had some extra hooks for our coats and backpacks, we could enter and exit quickly and carefully without incident and get right to work, again spending more time on task.
