My students need access to laptops in order to develop their reading and math skills. These Chromebooks will make learning both interactive and fun. Students will have the opportunity to be fully engaged!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My wonderful group of second graders attend a public charter school in West Baltimore. My students are bright, inquisitive and invested in their education. We always start our day with our class motto: "Always do your best work!"
These curious and motivated learners love learning, especially with games, art, and technology!
Second grade is an important year for students because students begin to transition into more rigorous learning. My students are becoming more experienced readers, writers and mathematicians. In order for students to reach their learning goals they need access to resources that will support their learning. My students’ eagerness to learn and apply their knowledge in interactive and engaging ways is often limited due to the lack of resources that students have access to.
My Project
Technology is key for ensuring my students are equipped for 21st Century learning. However, my students have no computers in their classroom. Access to Chromebooks will allow my students to engage in Literacy and Math activities and lessons. Websites such as Reading A to Z will help develop strong reading skills in order for students to become proficient readers and writers. My students will also go to websites like Zearn.org where they can participate in interactive math lessons and play fun games to help them learn.
Chromebooks personalize lessons because students are able to learn at their own pace and most importantly, they make learning fun!
Using Chromebooks in class will prepare students to be successful when technology is a required part of learning and life.
