Our suburban school is located in the northwestern part of Oklahoma City. We have a wonderful mix of ethnicities present in our school. My second grade class comes from a wide range of backgrounds and home situations. Their current reading levels range from kindergarten all the way through sixth grade! My class loves learning and comes to school every day eager to learn more. I try to supply them with a rich learning environment every day.
My class thoroughly enjoys listening to stories!
Their vocabularies are growing by leaps and bounds by listening to high quality-literature. Some of my students do not get to experience the thrill of listening to a good reader reading to them outside of school. Therefore, I want their days to be full of inspiring stories that they can snuggle up and enjoy in our classroom.
My Project
Part of our daily literacy lessons includes individual learning centers in which students practice their skills. This set of fiction and non-fiction books on tape will provide my students with an opportunity to develop their listening and reading skills.
Following along with a story is a great way for struggling readers to build their reading vocabulary plus practice reading with expression.
With this set of engaging books, students will be swept into the stories and non-fiction pieces without realizing they are practicing their skills! The books are on a wide-range of topics, so I know there will be something perfect for each child.
