Living Wax Museum: Where Biographies Come to LIFE!
Help me give my students the resources they need in order to conduct research on a famous individual. Each student will choose an individual and 'become' that person for a final project: A Living Wax Museum.
My third graders are one of a kind! We are a family and have a strong bond! My kiddos love a good challenge! They especially love novel studies, use of technology, hands on activities and so much more! These kids truly make my job a dream!
Their excitement to learn new concepts and positive attitude about school is contagious.
I love being able to come to school each and every day and know that I truly have an impact on their lives. Their questions they ask are deep and complex.
My students come from all different backgrounds and families. The use of shared literature connects us and enables us to learn together as a class.
My Project
In the 3rd nine weeks we focus on biographies & a writing paper. Instead of just researching and writing we add a fun twist!
A living wax museum is a fun and creative way to get students to “do” history instead of just reading and writing about it.
My students will start off by picking a famous individual. They will then conduct research, both by reading a book & utilizing the internet. They will, next, write a short speech that is not only informative, but fun and exciting by adding humor, surprise or even sound effects.
Finally they will perform in a Living Wax Museum for schoolmates, staff and family members. My students will engage their audience each time their “button” is pressed. This research project is one of the most memorable experiences of third grade! Thank you for helping!
