Ms. Green from Columbia SC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a book that promotes healthy self-esteem in them.

Not a day goes by where I am not blessed by the innocent smiles and beautiful presence of our students. They laugh at the simpliest things, they find joy in the quirky way many of the teachers teach, and they never let on how dire many of their lives are. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch and attend a Title I school.
So many of our students are homeless, have survived abuse, are in foster care, or are simply struggling learners.
But all of them love learning, they just have to be taught in the way they learn. They want to know that they matter; their presence here on earth. They want to contribute and I want to help them to do just that.
My Fifth Grade students will be leaving to go to middle school soon. I want them to know that there time in elementary school mattered to others and that they will always be positively remembered. The focus of "The Legacy Project" is to give, give back, and soar!
using our 1:1 technology, our 5th Grade students will be recorded reading popular and engaging books for our younger students to enjoy for years to come.
This will be their legacy that they leave behind. For their gift to the school of literary appreciation, each student in fifth grade will receive a book to read and reflect on before, durin, and after the summer. The book "The Skin I'm In" helped my son with his transition to middle school and I believe it will help bolster the self esteem of our students and contribute to their readiness to learn.
