Lively Little Learners Need Cozy Library and Literacy Games
My students need opportunities to develop language and vocabulary. A lively vibrant library, with reading pillows and a Cozy Corner Canopy, literacy games, and pretend and learn costumes.
I am requesting 1 Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers and 1 three word building puzzle to teach phonics. I am requesting dramatic play cash register and community helper costumes to promote vocabulary. I am also requesting 1 cozy corner canopy and 2 pillows to attract students read books.
My students are young learners who live in a very transient community.
Oftentimes, one or both parents are deployed. They are very lively little kids with not many real life experiences. I try to create a fun, vibrant learning environment where they can actively role play and build language. The kids love to learn through engaging hands-on experiences. I let them know that it is their classroom. They radiate with joy when they walk into their classroom daily. They get so excited when something as small as a new puzzle shows up on the shelf.
Often times, kids who see books and a table and are not drawn to the library. I believe creating a fun, cozy place in the room with books will draw them to the center to learn and love reading. The dramatic play costumes will be used to enhance learning and active role play. Vocabulary development in Pre-K is crucial and oftentimes a struggle our students face. The more they are talking and engaging in conversations, the more their vocabulary and social skills are enhanced. With our new curriculum, we have increased the rigor of depth we go into during the Pre-K year. Therefore, my classroom inventory of these products is lacking. Phonemic awareness stations will provide fun ways to teach the concepts.
