This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a high poverty, high EL population in Northern California. Many of my students do not go beyond their school and neighborhood and don't get to experience lots of real-life experiences - like going to a live play!

Many have seen movies and watch a lot of TV - but even with a theatre down the street - most have not been there before.

These students would truly benefit from getting an experience of seeing a live show performed by kids!

My Project

Many of our students watch lots of tv, but although we have a theatre within walking distance of our school, many of students have never experienced a live play. This play would allow students to watch local theatre performers bring a movie to life. Since we are so close, we can walk and only need help to pay for the tickets!

With this project, students will be able to walk to a local play and watch a kids production come to life in front of their eyes.

This will show them how performing arts come to life and hopefully encourage some of them to try performing arts as they get older.
