Being part of a small school in a small community definitely has its advantages and disadvantages. Our small mountain community high school has approximately 400 students, which creates a true sense of community, but sometimes it can be difficult to fully fund the sports teams needs.
Our baseball players are hard-working, dedicated, utility-type athletes that have to be proficient in many different positions on the field.
Many are also multi-sport athletes that will literally finish the soccer or basketball season one day, and be on the baseball field the next.
The student athletes in our baseball program have excelled despite our small student population. They compete against schools 2-3 times their size and have gone on to win a division championship. These athletes definitely have a fighting spirit.
My Project
Hitting off a tee, regardless of age, or years of experience in the sport of baseball helps to groove and perfect an athletes swing. It provides a controlled environment to help set up pitch location, practice fundamentals, and gives a player a chance to practice his swing for each type of hitting location.
There is always so much failure inherently involved in batting, and having equipment to help my athletes come to the plate with as much confidence as possible helps them to be more successful.
New, high quality helmets will also help to keep my athletes safe at the plate. When a baseball is thrown near a players body at up to 85 m.p.h, we don't want to gamble with low quality helmets.
