As a public school Pre-K, my classroom will be their first true experience with being in school. Our district's Pre-K program has recently expanded to reach more students, and I intend to foster a community of love and support amongst them. Many of the students come from low-income households. The students are energetic and enthusiastic 4 year olds and throughout the day they will be playing, laughing, and learning.
They are young, but they deserve to see how magical learning can be.
My Project
The students in my classroom will regularly have the opportunity to read self-selected books, and it is my goal to have the broadest possible selection of books for them to choose from. The children come from a variety of backgrounds and it is my hope to offer enough variety in our class library such that each child is able to find a book they will enjoy.
These students are on the cusp of their literacy and language development; it is key to foster a love of reading at a young age.
By providing the children with books and reading daily, it is giving them a foundation for their future education.
