My Students

I am the Technology Integration Specialist at a Title I school in Chesapeake, VA. My students are smart, funny, creative, and full of spirit. I want to be able to offer them opportunities that they might not be exposed to in other ways. We are working hard to become 21st century learners that use collaboration, creativity, and coding. You never know if one of my students will be the next great nuclear engineer, doctor, research chemist, or computer programmer. I want to help them tap into their gifts and talents to push through on the most successful path possible.

My Project

Through the use of robots we will begin early to help our students understand coding, work collaboratively and be part of a 21st century classroom. The state of Virginia is making coding part of the mandatory curriculum next year. Coding helps to build necessary critical thinking and problem solving skills. Plus the students just love working with the robots since they are fun! It’s seems more like play than work. Botley is a great way to introduce these much needed skills. The code and go mouse is also a innovative robot that the children will love to work with. I can’t wait to use these with our youngest students.
