Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing group of 8th graders are eager, inquisitive, creative and hardworking. They are excited about science and the new things they learn everyday. Most of my students live in a low socioeconomic area and spend their schooling moving from school to school. My students and their families deserve as many positive opportunities when it comes to school.
All 190 of my students are funny, caring and are eager to learn.
We just need to find the materials that will help them unleash their scientist side. Our school is not heavily funded when it comes to purchasing items for Science. Since it is a Title 1 school, science is usually pushed to the bottom of the list. I want my students to have opportunities to be able to apply what they are learning in class and create value for their knowledge. I am willing to pave the way for my students to enjoy and love science.
My Project
Students at our school are not always given opportunities to use technology due to school funding and their home-life. Most of our students have not been exposed to technology of this century or do not have any at home to use. Giving them this opportunity to explore with LittleBits will allow them to learn skills they will need in their lives and apply their science knowledge. They will explore science through applied learning and hopefully realize that they can be engineers. Our students need materials that will encourage them to use 21st century skills and become the future scientists that they are.
