Help me give my students the ability work for little treasures as an incentive in the classroom, construction paper for crafts, playdoh and toys for them to explore their letters, and essential oils!
My students walk into our classroom every morning with a smile on their face and excited for the day of learning ahead. My students love to learn and are always excited about new things. These kids are high energy, positive spirits, and full of life. Looking at my class all I see is the drive to learn and the ability to do anything they set their minds to.
I am a second year teacher at a Title I school in Phoenix where most of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and come from difficult family backgrounds.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. I want all of my kids to know how special they are and how successful they will be in school when they have the desire to learn! Although these kids might not have everything they ever wanted at home, I do my best to make sure they have everything they need to learn at school.
My Project
My students work so hard during the day and some students go above and beyond and need a little something that would show that they had an amazing day at school. I use a clip chart that goes from "ready for school-great job-outstanding" as the students go above and beyond in the classroom by doing something kind for a friend or following directions or really showing me that they are trying hard I ask them to clip up! When they get to outstanding they get to go to the treasure box! In kindergarten that is an amazing thing to get to do! I would love to fill that treasure box with things that all my students love. Some things that they are really liking are the rubber ducks, the Emoji bracelets, little fishes, and stickers!
All of these things might seem little to us but to my kindergarteners they mean the world.
I also included items that can be used as fun activities in my classroom for my students to work toward earning. Kindergarten is filled with a lot of curriculum and I want my students to have fun while learning. I included items like construction paper for crafts, playdoh and toys for them to explore their letters with hands-on learning, and essential oils to create a calming environment for my students.
With all of these items, I am excited for my students to be engaged in the lessons and be excited about what they are learning and know that they can reach those goals of what is inside of the treasure box!
