Little Things Make a Huge Difference

My students need an easel to make class posters together, and desktop trays for the students to use independently for their math fact papers.

My Students

My students and I often meet at the carpet to share with one another. It's been difficult not having a large paper to write ideas down on for all to see. The poster paper I do have, I have to lay it down on the desk to write, then hold it up to show them.

We are in a Title 1 school in Washington state.

They don't have much, but we work with what we have. Many of them come into school to have breakfast every morning, and have free/reduced lunches. Though they may not have a lot of money, the potential and strength the students have are pretty amazing.

My Project

I want the students to feel as if they are in an environment where it's accessible to them, and having an easel that they can write on as well will help with that. They also can now be independent and grab whatever math sheets they need if we receive the desktop trays.

Even in 4th grade, we still need an easel so that they can see what the teacher/students write.

It is motivating for students to see their thoughts and/or ideas on the board in front of the whole class. Receiving the desktop trays will also help the students take ownership of their Math sheets and not rely on their teacher to tell them which one to do. Such simple things can make a huge difference!
