My Students

My students are ambitious, curious, and determined. For most of them, this is their first year being in the physical classroom setting. For all of them, it will be their first full year in person. From day one, I could see how eager they are to learn. The first time I let them pick out books from our classroom library, I saw their faces light up with excitement as they found a book that interests them. Every day, they enter our room excited to learn.

My Project

These books will help my students become fluent readers with fiction and nonfiction text. By mid-year of first grade, my students are ready for the challenge these chapter books will bring. They will learn that reading is an important role in being a scientist.

Science is easily one of the most engaging subjects.

These materials will allow my students to become scientists in our classroom. The specimen will provide them with the opportunity to observe real insects. The clay is where they will have their first experience with creating a model.

My First Animals books will provide examples of how scientists write about the information they gather before they take a go at publishing their own book. Once my students have gone through the writing process they will get to experience the joy of publishing their own nonfiction text. The last step will be laminating their work. This allows them to save their first pieces of work as scientists for years to come.
