My students are learning to play rock instruments for the first time in their musical journeys this year! They have been learning the basics on guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. They are eager to learn about these instruments and have been soaking up all of this new information like sponges!
"The future belongs to the curious: the ones who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it, and turn it inside out.
My kids amaze me everyday with how quickly they are able to learn something new as well as the growth mindset they have when trying something difficult. Their curiosity and ability to collaborate with one another will take them far!
My Project
The materials for this project will help give my students are more real life experience with these instruments. Currently students are sitting on the floor with their pianos and using paper clips in place of guitar picks.
While they are great for being so flexible, I would like to provide them these materials to make it not only easier to play these instruments but also help to make their experience more authentic.
I think it's important to teach kids not only how to play the instruments, but also how to be responsible with setting up and tearing down. The guitar tuners would be used for teaching students to tune their own guitars. The two guitar stands would be used to hold our electric bass and electric guitar which currently are leaned against a wall. The bass and guitar strings would be used to replace any strings that break. The guitar cables would be used to plug in our electric instruments. The keyboard stands will be used to set our keyboards on so students can sit in a chair or stand while they play.
