Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a GSRP Pre-K classroom of four year old boys and girls. Eight of my students are boys and ten are girls. Fifteen of my students are English Language Learners and their first language is Spanish. Seventeen of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes in the inner city of the largest urban school district in the state.
My students come from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods where access to good, nutritious foods is often difficult for many reasons including access, income, and education.
My Project
My current library is small, and I need help making this a bigger part of my classroom. My students will have a better variety of books to read and gain knowledge.
With these new books my students will be able to choose from a large selection of books that will kick start their love of reading.
Illustrations in pictures books help students understand what they are reading. Young readers look for books that have bright colors and fun pictures.
Pictures books will help support students reading, listening, predicting, speaking skills. These new books will offer them more choices and recognize fiction and non fiction books.
