Little People In Need Of Little People To Help Them Learn
The cost of a motorized train, language and shapes discovery boxes, a little people school bus and batteries is $342, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
I teach Early Childhood Special Education in a “blended model” on the Near West Side of Chicago. In our program we serve both students with identified disabilities and those “at-risk for academic failure.”
Many of the materials in our classroom are appropriate for students who are developmentally 3-6 years of age. However, I often have many students who are functioning at a 1-3 year old level for periods of time throughout the year and during summer school. I am in desperate need of materials that are more suitable to their needs.
All the students in our classroom love The “Little People” by Fisher-Price. They have helped us teach valuable life lessons of sharing, community helpers, and important communication skills. My students would LOVE the Little People A to Z Learning Zoo, which teaches about the alphabet and animals. They would also love the Little People School Bus!
Lakeshore Learning makes three great sets of “Discovery Boxes.” We were fortunate enough to receive the “Color Discovery Boxes” through another www.donorschoose.org donation. Your contribution could help us obtain the “Shapes Discovery Boxes” and the “Building Language Discovery Boxes.” These sets allow students to work on language skills, sorting skills, and cooperation skills. Additionally they are large, soft, and easy to handle which makes them appropriate for the children who are functioning at the academic level of a much younger student.
