Help me give my students a chance to have books in their hands to practice their reading by providing them with a "Little Library" where they can pick up a book to read.
The students I have this year are learning remotely. I am the only remote Elementary Librarian for grades K-5. My students live throughout our small city, Billings, Montana. During any ordinary year my students attend a variety of schools with different economic needs. This year due to the COVID-19 Virus, these students for a variety of reasons, are learning remotely from their homes.
Many of my remote students are receiving free or reduced-price lunches, some are in group homes and some are living with grandparents and other relatives.
But whatever their situation, these students are curious, dedicated, eager-to-learn, and ready to make a difference.
My Project
My students love reading! I am the Elementary Librarian for over 1000 students who are choosing to be home this year for remote learning due to the COVID-19 Virus. Many of my students have not been able to use the services of their public library nor have been able to use their school library. Many of these students have a limited choice of books they can read at home.
These students desperately need to have access to books they can hold as they are practice reading.
They have access to many electronic books but having a "Little Library" box where they can pick up books to read and exchange when their families are doing grocery shopping or other errands would make a huge difference in learning to read.
