Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first graders from an economically disadvantaged school. Many of their families can't afford to purchase lunch for their children, much less books and other school supplies. Some of them do not have the funds for transportation to the public library either. So, I have decided to request help in providing my class with new books, school supplies, and expanding their opportunities to learn and grow. I hope to share my love of reading with my students by giving them access to high quality literature that will instill in them a love of reading. My goal is to create lifelong readers and learners.
My Project
These books will be added to my classroom library. We will need more books than ever due to the effects of the global pandemic. All books will have to be quarantined for a week after use. This will limit the books that we are able to put into the children's hands.
Please help me give my students more options.
I am afraid that we will be running out of books at lightning speed due to the fact that they will not be able to share or reread right away. I know that these new books will bring them joy in such a trying time.
