Help me give my students headphones to quietly and actively engage in their grade level learning centers in my 1st/2nd/3rd grade bridge classroom. Also, to get more ink and a new drum set for classroom's color printer.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a class made up of 13 imaginative, creative, smart, and loving children with special needs! Children who are innocent at heart, with unique personalities, and whose life's possibilities are insurmountable.
My school is located in District 23 in NYC, one of the smallest, yet poorest, crime-ridden neighborhoods in New York City.
Yet, we are indefinitely creating the best and brightest future leaders!
A lot of my children live difficult home lives, and I choose to change their experiences within the school and classroom environment as much as I can. Although many of them are faced with problems that are unthinkable to others, they come into my classroom happy and eager to learn.
My Project
My students currently need a new set of classroom headphones to listen to reading and math programs on the laptops and tablets in the classroom effectively. They are forced to listen at a low volume and only a few at a time because of the noise level when all students are trying to do a reading program at the same time.
We also have a printer that we were fortunate enough to inherit from donors like you that has run low on ink and needs the drum set replaced.
Replacing the drum set will ensure that the ink doesn't spatter on the pages as it prints (which it currently does). Having these items for the printer will allow us to print beautiful pages in color without streaks and other ink spots that definitely serve as a distraction to the special needs population
