My Students

My students live in a rural community of about 2,000 residents. They may not realize it yet, but they are growing and learning in a very supportive and tight-knit community that cares about each of them.

In my classroom, I have 18 kindergartners of varying social, emotional, and academic needs.

They are creative, clever, and spontaneous! They have so much excitement for school and learning; it makes my job so enjoyable! My students are unique individuals with unlimited potential. It is my job to ignite their excitement for learning so they can reach their full potential!

My Project

My students need vowel and diagraph learning tubs to learn essential kindergarten phonics skills in a hands-on way. The vowel tubs will be used to help students learn the difference between long and short vowels. The diagraph tubs will be used when introducing consonant diagraph sounds. We will use the tubs first in whole and small group; once the sounds have been introduced the tubs will then be placed at centers so that the kids can practice sorting objects by beginning diagraph sounds and vowel sounds.

Hands-on learning is the best for young learners as it provides them with engaging and kinesthetic learning opportunities.

The tubs will help students because they provide real objects as examples of the phonics skills we are learning about. These tubs will be used on a daily basis and will help my students in learning fundamental early literacy skills
