Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students come to school every day excited to learn and explore. They love to learn through hands-on activities that are engaging and connected to the content we are learning. They have proven themselves to be resilient as many of them have overcome so much throughout these past two years during COVID.
95% of students at my school site are socioeconomically disadvantaged and are eligible for free or reduced priced meals; or have parents/guardians who did not receive a high school diploma.
The student population composite is 74% Hispanic, 11% African American, 8% White, 2% Asian and 5% of mixed race.
Many of my students face daily challenges beyond my control however I am looking for simple ways to help them become inspired and grow as learners within our classroom community.
My Project
These materials will make a tremendous difference in my students' learning. This project will help bring learning about letters, numbers, science, and STEM to life through hands-on activities independently and in their small groups.
Kindergarten students learn best through exploration and play!
The activities from this project will support their learning during independent time at their centers where students work together, practicing their cooperative skills. My students really look forward to the parts of the day where they get to use these tools and I am hoping to expand the variety of activities available to them.
