Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Little Kids Rock" students, are from a large, urban, inner-city middle school and are crying out to sing and play down home Texas blues! The rocker's need a good-sounding, high- quality, low-priced axe. The Classic Vibe Strat is just that, a solid, durable, instrument that will last for decades. A guitar accessory pack, with stand, strings, and other gear that's needed. The strat is the definitive blues and rock 'n roll guitar. With it, we can reach these kids with the blues, rock n' roll, rhythm and blues, and other musical styles. Help us let the kids express what's locked up in their souls. They will take with them for the remainder of their lives. let us help the kids to express what's locked up in their souls. We will have about 40 students taking guitar through the Little Kids Rock (LKR) program, which enables students to come to special music classes before and after school. The Band Director and I are going to select a group of these LKR Students to form a small group combo that will be integrated to the regular LKR classes. This small group combo and other students will also perform during a school function too. The combo group will consist of: guitar students drummer bassist singer The students will take the basics of playing guitar, drums, bass, and singing and apply them to a blues song. Students will learn the I-IV-V chords in a 12 bar blues format. They will learn the basics of rhythm, harmony, notes, and small ensemble playing. We will also nurture the students to create their own songs. Then, then progress further into music exploring different forms the students can play and perform readily. Please know that I have personal contacts with many local professional blues musicians and invite them to school to play and talk with my students. Help me let them sit in with the band and really let the blues happen. It's what they want and need.
