Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fourth graders in a low socioeconomic status area. Our school has a population of students where 94.1% are socioeconomically disadvantaged. More than three-fourths of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. In spite of their circumstances, they still come to school ready, enthusiastic, and yearning for new knowledge.
While many of my students lack resources at home, they strive to excel in the classroom.
It is not uncommon for my students to want to stay in during recess or after school to enhance their own learning. Our community rallies for and values education and is supportive of our school and our students.
My Project
Over the past few years, there has been a growing appreciation for theater education in school. I am so excited to say that our district is following in this trend. This will be our third year offering a school musical to our students. This year we will be performing the Wizard of Oz.
As we know, theater education can offer many benefits to young children by helping students gain self-confidence, develop coordination, concentration and memory, enhance one's creativity, and improve communication and social interaction skills.
Our last two productions were wonderful, however, in the future I would love to offer our students a stage that this worthy of the amount of effort they put into their performances. The wireless microphone headsets will accentuate and amplify our actors' voices while they move around the stage. The backdrop background kit and adjustable stand will hold our 10 feet muslin backdrop, which will also be held in placed by the 6 pack of heavy duty muslin spring clamps. One of the event facade booths will be used to hide our actors from the audience before and during the performance. The other event facade booth will be used as stage equipment during the performance.
