Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students face for the first time the excitement and changes about being at school. Their ages ranges from 3-5, most of them come from a very low income families, where some of them have experienced trauma. The trauma of poverty, some of them the trauma of abuse, the trauma of having a loved one in jail, and some, the trauma of just wondering where they are gonna sleep that night.
We, as teachers, are committed to meet the inner needs of these children, by loving on them and facilitating a safe environment so they can achieve social-emotional and academic success.
This is why I encourage donors to join our efforts to make school a fun and safe place for my students, who have the potential to succeed in life, but just need some caring and loving people to guide them, believe in them, and give them the support they need in their early years of life.
My Project
Having hands-on materials are very important to keep students engage while they are learning their academic skills. Playdoh, counters, dices, and math centers are just basic classrooms manipulatives needed to accomplish our goal.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of math in a meaningful and fun way, keeping those little hands-on activities at time .
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "a meaningful place to go." We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
The playdoh will help my students to develop their fine motor skills, while they are learning their initial letter of their name. The little pillows will make the library time comfortable, especially for those who can't sit on a chair for longer periods of time comparing to their peers. Dice, counters and match centers will help them with concepts like counting, number sense, less or more, and basic addition. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
