This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with special education students in a co-taught Kindergarten classroom. My students are new to school and need as much hands-on, play as possible while learning key skills to be successful. My school is in an urban setting with the majority of the students receiving free and reduced lunch. The school is diverse and works hard to meet the needs of all its students. I modify and accommodate curriculum, use music and STEM activities to increase independence and learning, and allow students to learn in the way that is most appropriate and successful for them.
My Project
Kindergarten is where it all begins! As children begin school in Kindergarten they must adjust to a whole new, sometimes scary, world. Students learn better when they can hold, touch, and feel the materials.
My students' young minds crave new information and are excited by new things!
Being able to have hands-on materials and activities that allow them to explore and question is a key to future success. Early integration of science and math concepts can instill a life long love of school and promote the joy of discovery. All children deserve to have their love for learning nourished and encouraged!
