This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are critical thinkers who want more! Some students have had limited exposure to persevering through problem-solving and working together. They need support to thrive. They are willing to reflect, ask questions, and make mistakes.
These avid investigators are learning how to navigate the world they were given.
Every day, these students show that learning, despite challenges, is possible. They may not have made their goals yet, but they continue to amaze me with their willingness to keep moving forward.
My Project
The Keva planks, gears, and K'NEX will be added to the classroom makerspace. There students can use the building materials to explain STEM concepts and explore creating. Younger students will be able to use the hands-on materials that come in the kits for discovery bin time. The different building kits will allow students to show their thinking on a given problem. These materials will make a huge impact on building fine motor skills. Students need to be able to see an idea. They need to have materials that can be used independently and small groups.
