Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic children that are working hard to develop and improve their reading skills. Every day they come to school excited ready to learn.
My students can be described as "Little people ready to read and explore." They love reading and enjoy participating in shared reading.
Also, they like to participate during carpet meeting telling others about the books they are reading. Some of my students are struggling readers but they are so motivated to continue reading. They enjoy reading to others.
My Project
Having our own classroom tablets will allow my student to access reading aloud books every day for 25 minutes. The students will be assigned to read non-fiction books every week.
First, the students will listen the read out loud version of the book, then they will turn off the volume and will read the book silently.
After reading the book twice they will answer comprehension questions about the book. every Thursday students will write a summary of the book they are reading.
I am an intervention reading teacher that works with small groups of students, five students at a time. At the moment our group has only two tablets three more tables will allow each of my students us to have a device. Each student will be reading at the same time they will not have to rotate and wait for the device to be available.
