My class is made of a diverse group, students with learning disabilities, social emotional issues, and general education students. As you can imagine, they are a very vibrant and boisterous group. They have dreams of becoming architects, biologists, archaeologists, police officers, and teachers, just to name a few.
I view my students as the sprouting buds after a harsh, cold winter because of the poverty they bloom from and their potential.
Many of my students have experienced things that should only be seen in movies, such as living in drug and gang infested neighborhoods and financial hardships in the home. Yet their determination and drive to change their future allows them to believe they can achieve something greater.
Every school day my students come prepared to give 110% of themselves. They love to collaborate on class assignments, and dare I leave out their love for class discussions. A successfully funded project will do more than just provide supplies. It would help build my students' confidence in humanity.
There are a few winter must haves I purchase for my daughters every year. One of the must haves are leggings. For many of my girl students, leggings are viewed as a luxury. Their basic needs are limited to maybe a jacket or a long sleeve shirt. However, they are still wearing dresses and skirts to school in the cold weather.
Your donation will provided my girl students with two pairs of leggings.
Allowing them to stay warm on the bus stop and during recess. We can already feel the chill of fall and there is a long winter ahead of us. I hope you will see the need and help bring my project to life.
