Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a second home to most of our students and a first home to some. Most are are receiving free lunch and we send home bags of food with those who are in need for the weekend. We do make sure that every student has enough to eat while they are in our care. Our students are extremely bright and clever. They are continuously wanting to read and try new things. They have tremendous energy all day long.
My Project
Our school is planning on using two Little Free Library houses. Local CTE students are going to build both of them for our students. This will be a great community project for them throughout the year. The only supplies that are required to get this project up and running, or should I say "reading," are the pieces of the plexiglass requested to weatherproof the houses and the DK Readers Set, I Can Read Books, Step Into Reading Book Set and the National Geographic Readers requested.
The concept of this project is "take a book, leave a book."
The libraries will house the books. Our students are avid readers and would absolutely love to be able to get books on the weekends and or holidays.
