I teach children with varying exceptionalities such as specific learning disabilities, autism, vision impairment, and cerebral palsy. My students are at least two grade levels behind their same-age peers.
We are a Title I school which means many of the children come from impoverished backgrounds.
They have parents who have many challenges. Many students are part of the Hunger Project which helps feed them on weekends.
In my room, the students are able to work on their level and at the pace they need. We are trying to ensure that they get the most out of their education.
My Project
My students lack fine motor skills that they use for writing.
It is imperative that they gain control over their fingers so that they can be successful at the formation of letters and numbers.
These students love to use markers, not only because markers are fun, but because it doesn't take as much strength to see their markings. Dry erase markers are perfect for the easy way it erases mistakes. We will use the Glitter markers, Pip Squeaks, and dry erase for practicing motor control. The coloring book will be used during the study of the human body for our beginning learners.
