Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a neighborhood characterized by crumbling abandoned factories, old apartments, and unsafe houses. Crime is common and there is a heavy police presence in the area. These students experience danger on a regular basis and school is one of the few safe places in the area.
Our students are resilient, tenacious and brave, but they also frequently need more than the district, their families or their teachers can supply.
This project will give my students the right size of personal protective equipment, cleaning materials and tissues to maintain good health.
My Project
In typical years we have about 850 students attending our school. This year, we have less than half that amount of students attending in person classes. As the school counselor, I am there to help everyone to have a successful school experience.
Even though school has just started, our students are doing such a good job of social distancing, keeping their masks on and using hand sanitizer!
The problem is that most of our students are too small for the adult masks to fit them comfortably. Please help our students remain in school and stay healthy by providing them with appropriately sized personal protective equipment, tissues and cleaning supplies.
