Help me give my students art materials to keep their creativity flowing during distance learning!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
We all have been impacted by COVID-19. My students' current distance learning circumstances relay on learning packets which those materials are dwindling down. I go over those materials 3 times a week via Zoom meetings, and contact my families 2 days a week to go over any information, activities or just provide them with resources to assist them financially. My students were not able to complete activities that I found to be beneficial to their development, because they did not have the materials necessary to complete them. They are families from low-income households. My students' are ages three, four, and five. They are eager to continue learning as they have responded: "do we have school tomorrow". My students have also cried because they miss school and this is a way that they can continue their education while also interacting with their peers. I have reached out to the school district to gather more resources in my classroom, yet we are not allowed in building due to COVID-19 and social-distancing order. Therefore I have no additional resources available to me to help my eager learners continue their education during this unprecedented time.
Before this tragedy happened my students demonstrated a love for art. They would be engaged in the art center creating wonderful projects for teachers, parents and each other. While we are all sheltered in place at home, my students lack the necessary art supplies that will continue to allow them to be creative. Having these art supplies will allow my students to remain creative while remote learning takes place. During my online learning sessions, I will provide art activities that correlate with our themes and stories for the students to complete at home. I will be dividing the art materials to each student to assure they have the supplies necessary to express themselves through art. We were not able to complete activities because we lacked the supplies. Once schools can return, my students will continue to show their expressions through art with the materials that you have graciously provided.
