Our students come from diverse backgrounds; culturally and economically but one thing they all have in common is their sense of curiosity. They are eager to come to my STEAM program because it's a non-traditional classroom. They are encouraged to talk, move around, stand at their desks, and most of all think out loud.
These amazing elementary students, from Pre-K to fifth grade, have created the most amazing projects stimulating their cognitive abilities and developing their imagination and critical thinking skills.
My Project
My lower grade students will use these craft boxes to replicate buildings and famous structures. Each student will have their project hot glued together so I need glue guns and glue sticks.
My upper grade students need corrugated cardboard to create elaborate and sturdy parking garages.
They enjoy making these projects very realistic.
Each project, whether lower grade or upper grade, must start with a design concept. Each student must draw a physical blueprint which they will use as a guideline for their building. Therefore, my program needs a pencil sharpener so all students have access to the right materials for drawing.
