This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
All 30 of my students are amazing!
The kiddos in my class are eager to learn, and want to be a part of our classroom family.
They come to school ready to work hard, and to be a part of something important. Their learning makes a difference each and every day.
The majority of my students, come from lower-income neighborhoods, and qualify for free, or reduced lunches. Many are from single parent households and have multiple siblings. Each of my parents contributes to our classroom in the best way that they know how to, and can.
My Project
Dolls are some of the oldest toys that children have ever played with. Their earliest use was documented in Greece around 100 AD! There is good reason for this.
Playing with dolls teaches preschoolers social skills, cooperation, responsibility, empathy, compassion, imagination, problem solving and language skills.
Doll play increases children's cognition, fine and gross motor skills and speech. Being able to play house, and act out situations with dolls, can make life more understandable and less scary for children. They are able to see themselves in various roles and learn to deal with the emotions that come with being in those roles, both positive and negative.
