My students are happy, lively, and excited about learning in my school library. They are always eager to see what fun STEM activities or stories I have planned for the day. My students live in a rural area of North Carolina. They enjoy learning about different cultures all over the world. We begin class by introducing or reviewing the STEM/Literacy activity in each station. After selecting their books in the Media Center each week they easily transition into centers and begin to build, engage, and create. My library is alive and full of conversation as students work through challenges together in small groups. My students are excited about learning and are always eager to try new challenges as I introduce students to new books about diverse cultures and students engage in STEM activities.
My students are engineers, explorers, and engaged learners; they are eager to learn about the world around them through multicultural stories and augmented/virtual reality learning experiences.
My Project
As a young child, I fondly remember playing the game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? I loved learning about landmarks and famous cities. I played the computer game and I imagined what it would be like to be a detective and solve mysteries around the world. How can I inspire the next generation to learn about the world around them and beyond? Enter Play Osmo's new game Detective Agency...
The website for Play Osmo describes this game best, "The folks of Osmo Town need you Use your deductive thinking and observation skills to help find missing pets and capture villainous thieves!" Let's bring a new generation to love geography with the game Detective Agency.
Students have a magnifying glass that they must use to look at different maps of famous cities in different countries all over the world to search for famous landmarks. This game allows the students to interact with maps and a magnifying glass as engaged in learning with the Play Osmo Technology to learn about different landmarks with a voice output narrative.
Students will work in pairs to observe, use deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills to work their way through each challenge at hand.
