Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 24 eager learners live in a large urban community surrounded by multi-leveled apartment buildings. Most of my students live with multiple families in these single residence dwellings. Our school is part of the nationwide free breakfast and lunch program because over 60% of the student population fall within the low income bracket.
Many students have expressed their lack of toys, resources, and materials to help them begin with the exploration of creating and designing as we learn about STEM standards.
My Project
With this donation of kid-friendly building materials, my 24 little, eager learners will begin to let their imaginations run wild about designing and creating their own structures, bridges, and real life designs. My students would be thrilled if they could get their little hands on materials to help them begin to explore being engineers. These materials will help them use their creativity, imagination, and science knowledge as they apply 1st grade science STEM standards (Science, Technology, Engineer, Math).
Due to limited resources at home and school, students are missing a key component in developing the skills needed to begin exploring an interest in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) career!
This donation will give my students the opportunity to use various building material to experience, talk, debate, discover, design, create, collaborate and build. They can learn to lead the way to a more innovative tomorrow.
They will use the build and design tubs to help them begin to explore being engineers. These materials will help them use their creativity, imagination, and science knowledge as they apply 1st grade science STEM standards (Science, Technology, Engineer, Math).
