Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a high-poverty community. One hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. They are so eager to learn and experience new things! They are excited when given opportunities that they normally would not be able to experience.
Our classroom is their safe space to make mistakes, try again, and realize that there are so many possibilities beyond the struggles that they face every single day.
In a place where the odds are stacked against them, we are there to encourage and empower them to become anything their heart desires.
My Project
Our STEAM class strives to reach even the youngest of our students.
These hands on beginning coding materials will help them to build a foundation and love for coding.
Our 1st and 2nd graders would be able to learn coding basics in a fun and exciting way. We have multiple teachers in the room at the time so we will be able to work on small groups with each kit.
These materials would make such huge connections for even our smallest STEAM students to be able to understand such a large and in depth topic. Every student would have the opportunity to work with the materials and bring coding to life.
