My Students

My kindergarten students will break your heart with their life stories, yet bring a smile to your face and brighten your day. Each day, I start out with a hug, handshake or high-five from every one of my students and greet them by their name, so they feel welcomed and valued as an individual and member of my class.

They are filled with a spirit like no other, despite any odds already against them.

They have an eagerness and excitement about them, with a huge passion to learn.

My Project

Our classroom kitchen is bare! We have the play fridge, stove and sink, but we have no food to help us use our imagination to be the worlds greatest chef, or the baker down the street, or the street taco cart vendor in our neighborhood. We need play food items in our dramatic play area kitchen to fill our empty shelves.

How fun would it be, to have our play kitchen go from empty shelves to shelves full of fun play food, and new recipies of hopes and dreams!

We all know proper nutrition helps our bodies grow, and play food items will help our minds grow too. Having play food that we can "cook" and create with by running a store will help us with basic numbers and beginning addition and subtraction. Play food from different ethinic groups will help us learn about different cultures. Play food will help the next generation of bakers, chefs, cooks, and restaurant owners see thier dreams by role playing, interacting, communicating and understanding those like us and those that have their dreams too!
