My students need the Feeling Buddies Toolkit to support their growth in becoming more aware of their own and other people’s emotions, motives, desires, and feelings which can help facilitate successful communication.
The students in our preschool program are amazing, unique individuals! Each come with their own stories, gifts and perspectives. As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), it is a pleasure to help these students unfold their stories as they learn to communicate effectively and clearly.
So much of the preschool experience includes social communication.
Our preschool classrooms are filled with little ones learning to share not only their toys, but their thoughts and ideas as well. "Out of the mouths of babes" is a very real expression for our team. We leave every day with genuine stories told by our students that are filled with imagination, wonder and honesty. What a joy it is to be a part of this team.
My Project
Children who become aware of their own and other people’s emotions, motives, desires, and feelings are better able to understand, describe, and predict people’s mental states – thoughts, wants and feelings which is foundational for emotional intelligence and social cognitive development. The Feeling Buddies toolkit is one resource that can help facilitate these skills.
Equipping teachers with tools to integrate social-emotional learning and emotional regulation in the classroom is so important.
There are many products and curriculum available to teachers with regard to these concepts. The materials available in the Feeling Buddies toolkit is geared specifically for our younger students, allowing teachers a pro-active way to teach and model social emotional concepts.
