Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of energy and curiosity! They are five and six-year-olds who come to school excited to learn. I try to make learning fun and engaging as they learn through play. For some of my students, kindergarten is their first school experience which means that they come with different skills and abilities.
I believe that every child can learn at their own developmental pace.
My goal as their teacher is to provide engaging and challenging learning experiences in a positive and safe environment.
My Project
I'm requesting, nonfiction sight word books for my students. They will be able to practice reading sight words at home. These books have full color photos and simple text that are entirely made up of sight words.
Each week we focus on five to ten sight words and these books will provide targeted practice.
My students will be exposed to nonfiction topics such as the five senses and weather. The journals will also provide practice at home and develop their vocabulary. They will trace the sight word sentence starter on each page and fold out the word bank to finish the sentence.
