Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking and inquisitive in the work that they do. They love the arts and absolutely enjoy reading and exploring science concepts. In our classroom, we strive to integrate our learning with the arts as an arts magnet and enjoy hands-on learning experiences. Our school is home to artists, scientists, engineers, and mathematicians as our students work diligently to succeed in our environment.
Our class values each child and the ideas and questions they bring every day and incorporate them into our learning.
Every student that has come into my classroom and will come into my classroom in the future is truly incredible, and I am grateful for the questions, ideas, and compassion they bring.
My Project
My 4th grade students are proud of the community they grew up in. In our school we have families from all over the world who come together and build a community with one another. Since we have such a diverse group of students, I want to encourage them to use their voices to stand up for what they believe in.
Books like, "How To Make A Better World," "Speak Up," & "We Are the Change" will help my students think about how important it is to use their voice and make a change in our society.
I will use these books during distance learning as read alouds during Reader's and Writer's Workshop time, so that we can encourage them to take civic action! Having these books in our classroom will start showing how important it is for everyone's voice to be heard, and how we can do that through our elections!
