Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students are curious, creative, kind, and intelligent. Many of them are English language learners and do not have access to books at home. Our school library is the only place where they have access to quality books.

My students love to read!

Whenever I finish reading a book at the carpet, they ask for more. When they finish a book independently, they immediately start a new one. Changing their books is the best part of their day. They are so enthusiastic about learning new things.

My Project

These books will be added to my classroom library and will be used during lessons. My group of second graders love to read and I want to continue to encourage them to learn through books. With these books they will have a variety of books to choose from.

I chose books that will teach my students about compassion, friendship, social skills, and different cultures.

I also added some fun books because I want them to know that reading is fun!

My class has been working on reading independently and my students have a great interest despite the small selection of books that we have. I know that with a larger selection of books their love of reading will grow and they will become stronger readers.
