My Students

I am privileged to teach some of the most remarkable readers and learners. My highly diverse school serves students from a wide array of socioeconomic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Their personalities, the challenges of middle school, and a drive to succeed feed their constant hunger for new literature to consume. The students that enter my classroom have a range of needs, some struggle with emotional impairments, ADHD, learning disabilities, are ELLs (English language learners), and all are trying to navigate their way through the tough years of middle school.

My students are some of the most eager and voracious readers and writers that I have ever met.

I pride myself on being able to advertise, talk up, and recommend books that they can connect to and are hesitant to venture out and try. We work in my building to build lifelong readers through strong connections with students and by leading by example. To collaborate and offer the best learning opportunities and environment, I seek to provide my students comfort and efficiency in our classroom.

My Project

With all learning moved to online, my students who are not in the position of purchasing books to hold in their hands, need me to be able to mail them some. Book provided through this project will be mailed, at my personal expense, to my students so that they will have access to genre and age appropriate literature that ties into our learning goals.

Joy and new experiences can be had through literature and during a time when both those are hindered, literature is essential.

I would not be asking for these books to be returned, unless students choose to do this the next school year. Instead, these would be books that students could cherish for years to come.
