Mrs. Jean from McDonough GA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books to expand literacy into our math time and a binder machine with cardstock to make books in the classroom.

I have a very unique opportunity to teach a group of kinders that are eager to learn. This group is always special because you are teaching MANY NEW things to the students. They start the school year with maybe knowing how to write their name and leave as readers.
Although my school is a Title I school , that does not mean that my students should not be exposed to activities that increase their desire to learn.
As a matter of fact, some of my kinders do not have the opportunity to go to any kind of preschool/daycare before they come to me. When they get to my class, I want them to have full exposure to all of the learning tools that will help them in life.
What better way to make real word connections than through books! These mentor texts will help students to expand their vocabulary. The illustrations and familiar math terms will help to keep their attention. It is my desire that before we dive into a math lesson or guided math groups, that students will have had an opportunity to hear and see math examples through print rich books. These books will serve as a great introduction or attention getter to any math lesson!
These books will give my students an opportunity to expand their math vocabulary.
The binder will be used to make center books. Students will use these center books to practice math standards that are addressed through the books mentioned above. The hands on activities in the center books will allow students to better retain math concepts.
