Last year, I was asked to join this amazing school and provide a mindfulness yoga program to a school serving Kindergarten-8th grade. Our families choose our public, tuition-free charter school. They choose life-learning in a nurtured-heart setting. Our students are a beautiful community of diversity, abilities and successes.
The youngest of Yogis are joyful in their expression of movement and mindfulness; our older students not only enjoy the movement of yoga, but also so look forward to relaxing and refueling during our quiet time.
Studies have shown that these programs increase confidence, focus, achievement and acceptance, as well as mental health. It has been so amazing to see their positive outlooks improve their day, but also the people around them!
These mindful books will add visuals and literature during our mindful movement special. We meet 2-3 times a week alternating with gym. They will also be used as a retreat during stressful times on an individual or small group session.
While using these resources, our students will be able to enhance their mindful movement time and take their thoughts to a safe, quiet and peaceful place.
All students lives can be full of stress, this has been shown to impede learning. We offer support to our students through our programs, yoga is a new venture. We want to teach them that there are some things they can't change, but they can control how they respond to them.
