I am a first grade teacher to wonderful students. This is my fifth year of teaching and I love what I do with my students everyday. In first grade we strive to learn and always do our best!
The majority of my students are living below the poverty line and many of my students are English Language Learners.
I look forward to teaching them something new every day. My students are excited to be in school and eager to learn! First grade is the grade when students become more independent and take charge of their learning. I always want to create an environment to help encourage learning. It is important to me to have a welcoming and safe environment where students can learn and succeed. Our school is a Title I school in Maryland. This means a large percentage of our students are FARM: free or reduced price meal students. As I have worked in this Title I school, I have seen how my everyday interactions with students have impacted them.
My Project
Classrooms are finding more and more students are struggling with emotional regulation. As a result, students misbehave because they are not provided the skills to help regulate their emotions and apply strategies to react an appropriate way to their problems. In my classroom we hold daily class meetings in order to work on emotional regulation, relationship building, and respecting others.
These books will help provide my students with strategies and skills on how to regulate their emotions.
In my morning meetings, I will use these books to support discussion and activities to help my students build their understanding of regulating their emotions.
