Welcome to the Flathead Indian Reservation!! My students and I welcome you to our unique and beautiful area. We have gorgeous mountains and sprawling valleys. My students are unique and diverse. My students are creative, smart, energetic, and caring. We have many students that are decedents of the three tribes that live on the reservation. Sadly all of our students receive free Breakfast and lunch on our reservation.
Even though we live in a beautiful setting the truth is we live in a very impoverished area.
Many of my students do not have enough food to eat and school is there only safe place to be. I want to do all that I can to make my students day the best it can be. I want them to come to school and be full and happy while they are here.
My Project
For this project I am asking for books that my students can take home and read at home while we are distance learning. The students that I have this year enjoy reading when they get to choose what they read. They enjoy books like Charlie and the Chocolate factory and The Littles. I would like the students to be able to pick their own book to read while they are at home and then write each day about what they read.
I want to make the parents work load as easy as I can while the students are at home.
By letting the students choose their own book they are engaged in the learning more and enjoy the project. If the students have work that they enjoy doing they are less likely to fight with their parents to do the work.
