We are a small rural school district. We work hard to provide opportunities for our students that meet all of their needs, both academically and socially-emotionally.
All of my students have disabilities or need increased levels of academic support and they are absolutely incredible.
They come to my room for extra support or enrichment on top of their typical classes. These students don't let the increased work deter them. They continue to rise to daily challenges and benefit greatly from opportunities to connect their learning through various modalities.
My Project
My students struggle with reading. They come to my class to work on their reading skills either for academic intervention or through their special education services.
I would love to provide Scope magazine articles to help provide interesting, engaging material for all readers.
My older students work on reading skills through a book club, we read a book every 10 weeks together. I would love to start the year with The Compound; it is an incredibly engaging book with a wonderful plot twist that will have my students wanting to read more, which as an educator is my main goal! It also brings up questions about doing what's right and the difficulty of doing the right thing when it is not easy.
