My Students

My school is in the heart of the city and the students reflect that. They are diverse in their cultures and abilities. My students are creative, disciplined in fine arts, and conceptual.

My goal in the classroom is to create inclusive, empathetic students.

My students are vibrant, compassionate, and eager to learn. I have good intentions for their learning, but it can be difficult to give them what they need without the proper funding.

My school strives to provide the best learning environment for my students who otherwise might not get it. We place a high value on integrating the arts into the classroom without losing the importance of core studies. We work with each student to ensure their academic and personal growth.

My Project

In English 10, we cover lots of different types of literature. We also attempt to include lots of different voices, but this can be difficult without the necessary resources. This project includes literature by Black writers, queer writers, indigenous writers, and women. It's important for students to analyze literature that reflects them, and it's important that students can read from other perspectives.

These books will enhance the classroom experience for all students.

We will critically read these stories to improve student understanding. We will critically think about these perspectives. We will also critically write about these topics, because students need to process and develop their own ideas.

The project also includes a set of Shakespeare's major works from the No Fear series. Giving students physical access to Shakespeare will improve the literacy of the classroom, and it will also leave open the possibility of in-person performances.
